Reflections

I sometimes struggle with my combination work, especially with my footwork projecting in.  I tend to get my feet a little too close together at times.  Especially when the pace speeds up and you're projecting in and out, start to feel like you're just hopping around.  I'm learning to really feel like I'm sinking in to my stance when I project in, and out, solidifying before striking.  Though sometimes I get caught up and start to speed up and lose that grounding.

Training with the white and yellow belts, I noticed that many of them tend to leave their trail leg behind, or they let it lift off the ground.  I remember how difficult to pull that back leg with me was, and feel any sort of stability.  While I have the mitts on, I try my best to be a good partner and place them where they should be striking.  With the drill yesterday that was definitely cardio related, encouraging them to keep going.  What stood out to me was how tense they were with the strikes and how gassed they were doing rep after rep.  Could tell their shoulders and arms were getting heavy with fatigue.  I was definitely guilty of that too, and from time to time am still guilty of that, but have improved.  I see myself reflected in their actions and it reminds me of how far I’ve come.
