Thoughts on harmonies, transfer of power, and intent

-when looking at professional sport's players there is always an aspect of either coiling energy to release, or compressing then releasing

-a baseball pitcher really compresses their energy before release, where as a golfer hitting a drive is a bit more upright, but same rules apply

-full extension doesn't always mean alignment, for you can go beyond your reach, or not be supported by the rest of the body in a move

-all professional athletes use skeletal alignment and the earth beneath them to transfer energy, whether you are a golfer, basketball player, boxer, dancer, tennis player; they all utilize what is beneath them to maximize transfer of power

-it is not always about maximum power release, even though you want there to be potential.  Sometimes you want to finesse how much energy output you're applying in a situation

-intent plays a huge role in our harmonies.  I always look at a golfer because it is obvious when their intent is not aligned, because they mishit the ball

-on the other hand, a professional can take a swing/technique and apply it slightly differently to acquire different shot shapes, flights, speeds, etc. Same goes with our Kung Fu

-remember for every action that there is an equal and opposite reaction, so whatever power you release there is energy going back into your body, either you're in alignment and have the support of the earth behind you, or you're also taking the brunt of it

-there is a transfer of energy that happens with the retraction of a technique as well.  Think of dropping a stone in the water, the force of the stone creates a vacuum that draws the water down, and after it reaches a point where it bounces back up and the water shoots upwards, followed by ripples until it settles.  Our kicks, punches are similar, there is the impact and transfer of energy, followed by a second transfer and rippling effect until everything resettles

-energy starts with a thought, before it has taken form.  Only when the technique is complete do we see the true form it takes.  not to mention the journey from the thought to form.  Did it stay pure throughout, or did another thought take its place, ultimately changing its form?

-linear vectors (straight lines) are best for transfer of energy, though they may not start on a linear path.

-you don't necessarily need to use your legs to optimize power, as long as you have the earth beneath you to support.  conversely, you don't necessarily need your arms, but it is what we're used to

-impact or transfer of energy can be subdued/lessened with circular vectors, or by avoiding a linear transfer of power, allowing the energy to glance off, or circle down and out

-an individual's energy can be used against them, with very little effort on the defenders part

-there are universal truths to all that we do.  how we get there is what differs

-it is one thing to know a technique, and another to apply it in different ways. This is done through our intent

-less effort can mean more energy/power , where as more effort won't always translate to more energy/power

-our Qi interacts constantly like the invisible electromagnetic fields that surround us.  we influence one-another, can support, or dominate/control

-injury changes the way we move. you can either adapt or submit. there is however, lots of insight to be gained from an injury, if you're willing to look.

-we all have a dominant side. best to be aware, because where there is dominance, there is imbalance
