Dragon Team
Hello Team,
I wanted to share with you the "why" behind the kindness project that I have created. As a preface, I know we are all busy people, with various commitments in and out of the Kwoon, and that this project isn't mandatory. HOWEVER, I strongly recommend that you participate in this project. Not only does it count towards your acts of kindness, but it will help you engage with the team; and it can take as much or as little time/effort you wish to put into it. Second However, the more thought put in the better, and the project works best when everyone participates in some manner. Not a guilt trip, just an opportunity that can be brushed off or dismissed.
My reasoning for the project is born of out a need or out of an awareness that I was seeing, which is the team hasn't been as cohesive this year. This can be attributed to many things, but the hope of this project is to bring the team closer. By having to think of kind things to say about one another, and not just surface level things, requires awareness on your part, and engagement. It will be common for us to find certain people easy to say things about, and others may need more intention. This is where the project shines. If you are having difficulty thinking of things for someone, ask yourself why? We all tend to fall into groups of people we are comfortable with and don't tend to venture past. There's always that person you like to train with, chat with at the start or end of class, etc.. So, how well do you know your teammates? How often do you go out of your way to reach out to different people? How often do you notice other people? Apply your eye for detail here, and at the end of the project everyone will have a list of anonymous kind comments about them from their peers.
We all have something to offer one another, and sometimes all it takes is a little encouragement from your community to bring out your unique talents. I know we can all use a little ego boosting or a win every once in a while to keep us going. So here is your chance, don't miss out on being the reason someone shines a little brighter, smiles a bit wider, or even just carries on.
