A little too close to home (literally)

My household got a rude awakening this morning.  It was around 4:30 when we first heard the rapping on our front door, followed by the doorbell, and lastly, Nina barking.  At first we thought nothing of it, but then it happened a second and third time.  We knew something was up at this point.  I went downstairs and saw an ominous orange glow coming from my back door.  I quickly checked the front door to see if there was someone still there, before looking out the back.  Our neighbor's garage was on fire.  Not something I wish to see that up close again.

We grabbed a few valuables, put Nina's harness on, and headed out the front.  Our neighbor's whose garage was on fire was out already, and sirens could be heard.  The first of the fire trucks came through the back alley where our detached garages were, and we could see the water being sprayed.  A second truck pulled in front, and they cut a hole in our neighbor's fence and carried another hose through the front.  Within half an hour the flames were gone, except for some embers and lots of smoke.  No one was harmed, just some property damage, thank goodness.

Thank you to Spruce Grove Fire Service for their quick response.  Thank to the Universe for keeping us safe.
